A Family Tradition Continues!
This fantastic Povitica recipe has been in the Pallo family for over 60 years. It is a recipe formed from a culinary combination of immigrants from Poland and Austria. In the early 1900’s, a group of Eastern European immigrants, including relatives of the Pallo family, came to Kansas City looking for work in the oil and railroad industries. Grandpa Pallo settled in Sugar Creek, Missouri and Grandpa Wenski settled in what was known as the East Bottoms in Kansas City Missouri. Sugar Creek is still enriched by the customs, beliefs, and the proud heritage of its people. Along with them came their traditional dessert known as Povitica (swirled bread). All Povitica is not the same! Ours is uniquely sweet and delicious!
After many years we are finally able to bring our Povitica to our friends, family and now you.

My sister and I owe this great recipe to our mom Mary Pallo now 84,
She taught us how to make Povitica the way she learned from her mother.
Our hope is that you will find a family tradition and carry it on for your family.
Our Grandparents, now long gone, came to the United States to have
a better life for them and their family. We can only hope that we have made them proud.
Thank you for allowing us to bring our Povitica into your family.
